Fine tuning for a healthier lifestyle

Minerals

Minerals are chemical elements that are involved in various processes in your body. They help to regulate cell function and to serve as building blocks for your cells and organs. A varied diet should supply all the minerals you need. Unlike vitamins, minerals do not deteriorate during storage or cooking.

Different Types of Minerals

There are two types of minerals: (1) major/macro and (2) trace/micro.

Major/macro minerals are needed in larger amounts whilst trace/micro minerals are needed by the body in smaller amounts for normal growth and health.

Major/Macro Minerals

Examples: Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, Chloride, Sulphur

Trace/Micro Minerals

Examples: Iron, Copper, Zinc, Iodide, Manganese, Chromium, Cobalt, Selenium
