Healthy Eating


The human body is a complex machine – much like your car. If you don’t fuel your body correctly, then gradually, it will start to fail and cause you endless problems. Just like we fuel our cars with the correct type of petrol, our body gets its fuel from the food we eat, and the drinks we drink. If we want our bodies to work efficiently, then we need to ensure that what passes our mouths on a daily basis, is of the highest calibre and gives us all the nourishment we need, so as to be able to continue living our lives to the fullest.

Nutrition


Nutrition is basically the taking in and use of food and other nourishing material by the body. It is a three-part process: (1) food or drink is consumed, (2) the body breaks the food or drink down into nutrients and (3) the nutrients travel through the bloodstream to different parts of the body where they are used as “fuel” and for many other purposes. To give the body proper nutrition, you need to eat and drink enough of the foods that contain key nutrients – hence you need a healthy diet.

Healthy diet


A healthy diet for adults is one that provides everything the body needs to function properly, repair itself naturally and cleanse itself of toxins. It also needs to contain foods from the six key groups, namely: (1) carbohydrates, (2) dietary fibre (also known as NSP or non soluble polysaccharides), (3) proteins, (4) fats, (5) fluids and (6) vitamins and minerals.
